Hubei Green Hanjiang

襄樊市环境保护协会，是2002年9月经襄樊市民政局登记注册成立的一个群众性、公益性、非赢利性的民间团体。是湖北省首家民间环保组织，也是目前汉江流域唯一一家民间环保NGO。协会的宗旨是：团结和联系社会各界热爱环境保护事业的人士，积极推进民间环境保护活动；开展环境宣传教育，宣传绿色生活，倡导低碳消费；为建设资源节约型和环境友好型社会，发动社会各阶层民众踊跃参与，促进社会经济永续发展，造福子孙后代。协会目前拥有团体会员66个，个体会员157人（不包括团体会员单位人员数），志愿者30000多人。会员来自社会各条战线。

Founded in 2002, Green Han River was the first NGO in Hubei Province, as well as the first environmental group working on the Han River. The organization aims to promote environmentally-friendly development around the Han River (Hanjiang) through public education and information dissemination. Among other activities, Green Han River acts as a watchdog against local pollution, monitors water quality in and around the Han River, and educates the local populace on the importance of sustainable development.
