Introduction

Global Village of Beijing is one of China's earliest and most influential non-government organizations. Founded in 1996 by journalist and activist Sheri Liao, the organizations mission is "Advancing China's sustainable development through creation of an ecological culture."
Their primary activities include pioneering awareness campaigns and green urban neighborhoods, progressive environmental legislation, and exploring innovative economic platforms. Specific focuses include reducing consumption, recycling, organic farming, relief work, womens' rights, empowering disadvantaged ethnic communities, and a chemical safety information platform.
