BlueMap has published a review of air quality performance over the past decade for the first batch of 74 cities, highlighting progress in air pollution control across regions such as the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei area and its surroundings, the Yangtze River Delta, the Pearl River Delta, and the Fenwei Plain.

Looking back at the challenging year of 2022, we faced heavy smog at the start, followed by the stunning "Winter Olympic blue" skies. Spring brought the most frequent dust storms in recent years, while summer saw persistent blue skies, though ozone levels exceeded limits in many areas, and extreme heat and drought hit the Yangtze River basin. Cold fronts brought refreshing autumn days, but the lingering smog and dust continued into the fall and winter months. In November 2022, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, along with other government departments, launched battle against heavy pollution. The road to blue skies over the past decade has achieved global recognition.
