2026In response to concerns raised by several environmental organizations that some high-end hotels in Chengdu were still providing single-use guest-room amenities by default, the Chengdu Municipal Culture, Radio, Television and Tourism Bureau issued a formal reply on May 15. It confirmed that the concerns were substantiated and said it would work with relevant departments to launch a targeted rectification campaign and advance the hotel sector’s green transition. Environmental organizations welcomed the response and called on more cities to implement the “no default provision” policy, helping to reduce plastic use in the hotel sector and promote greener lifestyles. They also urged hotels, including Crowne Plaza Chengdu Panda Garden, that were confirmed to have provided single-use amenities by default to take corrective action and publicly disclose their measures and progress.
