With the acceleration of urbanization and the transformation and upgrading of the economic structure, the transportation industry has become a fast-growing sector of urban GHG emissions. Road transportation is the primary contributor to urban transportation CO2 emissions. Air transportation is one of the four major transportation sectors and the fastest-growing sector in CO2 emissions. As such, we have launched the Transportation Carbon Emission Map.
Due to the pandemic's outbreak, control measures have been strengthened in many places, with static management being implemented in areas with more severe outbreaks, such as Jilin Province and Shanghai. These control measures have led to a reduction in travel, especially significant in intercity air traffic.
So, how much has reduced travel led to decreased carbon emissions? We conducted a data analysis using the Transportation Carbon Emission Map.
