    The Paper and IPE jointly released the January dynamic ranking of environmental performance of Chinese listed companies

    Since 2021, The Paper and IPE have jointly released dynamic rankings of the environmental performance of Chinese listed companies. The aim is to assess environmental risks and opportunities based on environmental big data, discover green investment opportunities, promote corporate environmental responsibility, improve environmental governance, and use market incentives to facilitate green transformation and low-carbon development. This evaluation covers a total of 277 listed companies and affiliated enterprises in the non-ferrous metal smelting and rolling processing industry, of which 227 are key pollutant discharge units for the year 2020.

    The Paper and IPE released the first environmental performance ranking of Chinese listed companies

    This evaluation is based on over 10 years of publicly available environmental data, sourced from credible official channels, along with environmental information voluntarily disclosed by the companies. By analyzing basic details about the listed companies, their parent companies, affiliates, and both direct and indirect holdings, a network of relationships among these companies is established. The evaluation uses both qualitative and quantitative indicators, incorporating advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence and model analysis to assess the environmental performance of the listed companies. A total of 1,837 listed companies were included in the evaluation, all of which are key pollutant discharge units, either directly or through affiliated companies. Among these, 593 listed companies are themselves key pollutant discharge units, and the evaluation covers a total of 6,514 affiliated enterprises.

    10 Waste Incineration Listed Companies Exhibit Significant Gaps in Environmental Information Disclosure

    In this report, we analyze the environmental information disclosure sections of the annual reports and corporate social responsibility reports of 20 A-share listed companies involved in waste incineration business. Our findings show that 10 companies, including Wangneng Environmental (002034), Tsinghua Environment (000826), and Shanghai Environmental (601200), have significant deficiencies in their environmental information disclosure. Among them, four companies explicitly stated in their 2019 annual reports that "there are no major penalties or corrective actions" or "not applicable," which may constitute false statements. Six companies failed to disclose any environmental violations involving themselves or their subsidiaries or affiliated companies in their 2019 annual reports.

    Iron and Steel Listed Company Denies Large Fines, Calls Records “Non-existent”

    In this report, IPE and Lvse Jiangnan reviewed the annual reports and the CSR reports of 35 iron and steel companies listed in the A share stock market. 20 companies including HESTEEL, Shougang Shares, Baosteel, Inner Mongolia Baotou Steel Union and Chongqing Iron & Steel revealed significant drawbacks. Among these, 9 companies were suspected of making false statements, 8 failed to disclose whether there is violation, while 3 others did not disclose all data required for key-polluting entities.
